kicks4DAT is provided by 4DAT LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("4DAT", "we", "us"). We built kicks4DAT to keep your information on your own device. This policy explains the small amount of information we do receive, and why.
1. The short version
| Information | Where it goes |
|---|---|
| Your collection, wishlist, orders, care logs, kids' profiles and shoe sizes, sole checks, and sole photos | Stays on your device, in your browser or the app. We never receive it. |
| Only if you choose to sign in: your name, email address, a unique account ID, and whether you used Google or Apple | Received and stored by Firebase Authentication, a Google service we use to run sign-in, until you delete your account |
| Only if you choose to sign in: your IP address and browser or device details (the "user agent": browser, operating system, device type) | Collected by Firebase Authentication each time you sign in, for security and to prevent abuse. Google keeps IP addresses for a few weeks. |
| A backup file you save from the app | Goes wherever you put it — Files, iCloud Drive, Google Drive, a computer. We never receive it. |
| Guide-page views and product-link clicks | Counted by our own analytics service, with no cookies and no user IDs |
| Anything you buy on Amazon | Handled by Amazon under Amazon's own privacy notice. We never see your order or payment details. |
We do not sell personal information, show ads, use advertising or tracking SDKs, or track you across other apps and websites.
2. Signing in
Signing in is optional. You can use kicks4DAT without an account, and then no sign-in details are collected at all. If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, each person on a shared device keeps a separate collection. Sign-in is run by Firebase Authentication, a Google service. Google acts as our service provider (data processor) for it.
What Firebase Authentication collects:
- From your Google or Apple account: your name, your email address, and which provider you used. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, Apple gives us a private relay address instead.
- A unique account ID that Firebase creates for you.
- Your IP address and user agent (browser, operating system, and device type), collected when you sign in, to keep sign-in secure and prevent abuse.
How long it is kept: according to Google, IP addresses are kept for a few weeks. Your name, email, and account ID are kept until your account is deleted. After deletion, Google removes them from its live systems and from its backups within 180 days.
Where: Google runs Firebase Authentication only from data centers in the United States, so this information is processed in the United States.
We use this information only to sign you in, to keep your collection separate from other accounts on the same device, and to keep the service secure. We do not use it for marketing or advertising, and we do not combine it with other data about you. See Firebase's privacy and security information for more.
3. Information that stays on your device
Your collection and everything in it is saved on your device and is never uploaded to us. That includes kids' profiles, sizes, and sole photos. Each account on a device has its own separate storage. We cannot see, recover, or restore this information. Clearing your browser's site data, uninstalling the app, or deleting your account removes it. Save a backup from the app if you want to keep it.
Backup files. In the app you can save a backup file that holds your whole collection and your sole photos. You choose where it goes — Files, iCloud Drive, Google Drive, a message, or your computer — and you can restore it on another phone, which is how you move from an iPhone to an Android phone or back. The file never passes through us. It is plain, unencrypted text, so anyone who opens it can read what is inside; keep it somewhere you would keep family photos.
Your phone's own backup. iPhone and Android copy app data as part of iCloud Backup and Google's backup service. If those are switched on, your collection and sole photos may be copied to Apple or Google under their privacy policies, not ours. You can exclude kicks4DAT in your phone's backup settings.
4. Children
kicks4DAT is for adults. It is not directed to children, and children should not create accounts. Parents can add a child's first name or nickname, shoe sizes, and pairs to their own collection. That information stays on the parent's device, and we do not receive it. If you believe a child has created an account, email hello@kicks4dat.com and we will delete it.
5. Guide pages and analytics
On our guide pages, a small script counts page views, which product cards are shown, and which product links are clicked, so we know which guides are useful. Each event records the page, the product, the referring website's domain (not the full address), any campaign tag in the link, and the time. The script sets no cookies and records no user IDs. We do not use Google Analytics or similar tracking services.
6. Amazon and other websites
Product links go to Amazon and other retailers. As an Amazon Associate, kicks4DAT earns from qualifying purchases. When you visit Amazon, Amazon may use cookies to record that you came from kicks4DAT so the purchase can be credited. Amazon's privacy notice applies there.
7. Service providers
We use Google (Firebase Authentication) for sign-in, Apple and Google as sign-in providers, and Cloudflare to host the website, our analytics service, and email for hello@kicks4dat.com. Cloudflare processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the website. These providers handle information on our behalf and under their own privacy terms.
8. Keeping and deleting information
Your sign-in record is kept until you delete your account. To delete it, open the app, choose Account, then Delete my account. This deletes your Firebase sign-in record and removes that account's collection and photos from the device. If you used Sign in with Apple, it also revokes kicks4DAT's access to your Apple ID. Google then removes the record from its backups within 180 days. You can also email hello@kicks4dat.com to ask us to delete your account. See how to delete your account. Guide-page analytics contain no personal information.
9. Your choices and rights
You can use the guides and shopping pages without signing in. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information. Email hello@kicks4dat.com to make a request; we can look up and delete your Firebase sign-in record. Because your collection never leaves your device, requests about it are handled on the device itself.
10. Security
Sign-in and all connections to kicks4DAT, including those to Firebase, use encrypted HTTPS. Storage on your device is protected by your device and browser, not by kicks4DAT. Anyone with access to your device or browser profile may be able to see data stored there.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date above will change, and material changes will be noted on the site or in the app.
